Camera and Studio Basics

A introductory class to studio lighting. This course will cover basic lighting concepts that will allow you to create exceptional images in any studio! Great for the beginner or intermediate photographer who is looking to add studio lighting to their skillset.

 

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course is designed for beginner and aspiring photographers with little to no experience shooting in a studio environment. This introductory class will cover everything you need to know to get started, from choosing the right equipment to setting up your lights safely.

 

Topics Covered

  • EQUIPMENT INTRODUCTION

    • Types of studio lights (strobes vs. continuous lights)

    • Light modifiers (softboxes, reflectors, umbrellas, etc.)

    • Stands and sandbags

    • Backdrops (Paper, Cyclorama Wall, Fabrics)

  • LIGHT SETUP

    • How to safely mount a light to various stands

    • Where to place a sandbag on a stand

    • Proper cstand configuration

    • Mounting types for modifiers (Bowens, Profoto, etc) and how to install

    • Camera and light wireless and wired sync

  • CHOOSING THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT

    • Discussion on what to think about when building your light concept

  • STUDIO FUNDAMENTALS

    • Etiquette and considerations before booking studio time

    • Rental policy overview
